I've always wondered how I could make a realistic burnout digitally through photoshop, and I finally gave it a shot. I took a photo of a friends Z06 (also seen as my avatar) and tried my luck after watching a how to video and downloading a "tire smoke" .jpeg to layer over the rear wheels. I also cut out the car and swapped out the background for something I liked better than the original (notice I flipped the image, reversing the street sign text.).

I radial blurred the rear wheel for an added touch of motion. I think it came out pretty well and I thought I'd share it with the class.

And here's the background shot used:

Thanks, it actually didn't take as long as you might think, maybe 15-20 minutes. The smoke is super easy to add in, just position it and set the layer to "lighten" to remove the black background, then adjust to fit.

Rather than doing a color range select on the black to remove it, just change the layer to "Lighten" and it'll vanish...like smoke. I think its a blast...trying to think up my next shot haha.

Oh yeah I just beat it with the wand real quick. 20 seconds or less and I will have every Yugo on the net blazing tires

Not bad , but you need to fix the reflection of the power lines and other things on the car, looks out of place..
